We aim to make music both enjoyable and safe. Please help us by wearing a mask.
Updated Covid Precautions 7/29/21 - The CDC has recently issued an announcement recommending all individuals, including those fully vaccinated, to wear masks again indoors in public. I am fully vaccinated and with this new recommendation, I'll resume wearing a mask when teaching requires me to be closer than 6 feet to students. For example, in our Family Music classes, each family will continue to have their own mat, again spread 6+ feet apart so when we're all on our mats, I'll be able to sing, smile, and teach without the mask so the babies can see my face. When I'm moving around class and when I'm in a private/group lessons in the private studio, I'll be wearing a mask as much as possible and distanced when I can't (the private lesson studio is more than 12 feet long and has lots of windows). During flute and vocal lessons, students will be on the other side of the studio from me, which is about 8+ feet from the piano. The private lessons studio is also more than 12 feet long so for flute and vocalists, we will still be able to keep a safe distance while I teach.
It's Important to Register for every class and group lesson - The private studio is by appointment only. This means that even if there is a class listed on the calendar in the Student Portal, you need to register for it before showing up. This is because group lessons, like the Piano Class, are limited to 3 students at a time.
Students still have the option to take lessons online but I HIGHLY recommend they attend an in-person lesson at least once a month so we can work on common technique issues before they solidify in your beginners' playing.

4/1/21 What the studio is doing to keep you safe
1. Wearing a mask during your lesson and sanitizing.
2. The private studio is "By Appointment Only." No drop-ins.
3. Students will no longer be scheduled "back to back" but instead there will be time scheduled between each student to allow for cleaning.
4. All materials, instruments, and public areas used will be sanitized after every student.
5. We will not be offering water since I can't make the dispenser safe and I don't want to use too much plastic. Be sure to bring your own water - especially singers!
6. Windows will be open in the studio to allow for more ventilation when permitted by weather.
7. We will move back to Zoom at the first sign of illness - yours or mine - whether it's Covid or not. Flu is down this year too and I'd like to keep it out of the studio.
How does this affect students?
1. Instrument students will be required to wear a mask at all times while in the studio. Voice students who need to practice breathing and vocal techniques without a mask will sing out the open window, which is more than 12 feet from my piano.
2. Be sure to bring your own water - especially singers!
3. Students will remain in the car when arriving at the studio and text me. I'll reply when the previous student has left and the studio is ready for you. My number will be in your lesson reminders each week but is also on the website and the bottom every email. .
4. Observers will not be allowed in the studio. Adults may wait on the porch (you'll be able to hear most everything through the door) or you can drop-off and pick-up after the lesson.
5. Students will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering the studio.
6. The studio is large enough for us to remain apart during the lesson. I've gotten very good at directing kids long distanced through Zoom.
